It is time to go Solar! By going solar, you'll be taking control of your energy supply, saving money, and with batteries- providing long term backup

Why Go Solar?

Better for the Environment

Solar power is a clean, renewable energy source that helps reduce carbon footprints and greenhouse gas emissions. By switching to solar, individuals and businesses contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

Energy Independence

Installing solar panels allows for greater energy independence, reducing reliance on traditional power grids and protecting against rising electricity prices. Solar energy provides a reliable and stable power source.

Increased Home Value

The American Association of Appraisers has found that a home or building with a solar PV array has a higher market value than the same building without, as well as better resale values for owners. Solar panels are an attractive feature for potential buyers, reflecting a commitment to renewable energy and long-term cost savings.

Planning and Saving

Solar locks in your electricity rate by allowing you to generate your own power from a free, renewable source—the sun. Once your solar panels are installed, you can produce electricity at a fixed cost, which is essentially the cost of the initial installation and any minimal maintenance. This shields you from the volatility of traditional energy markets and rising utility rates. By producing your own energy, you gain control over your electricity expenses, ensuring stable and predictable energy costs for decades.

How Solar Works?

Solar radiation is light – also known as electromagnetic radiation – that is emitted by the sun. While every location on Earth receives some sunlight over a year, the amount of solar radiation that reaches any one spot on the Earth’s surface varies. In Western South Dakota we received lots of sunlight.  In fact, Western South Dakota receives on average annually 275 days of sunshine....more than even Tampa, Florida!

How Solar Works

  1. Absorption of Light: When sunlight (photons) strikes the surface of a solar cell, it is absorbed by the semiconductor material (typically silicon).

  2. Generation of Electron-Hole Pairs: The absorbed light energy excites electrons in the semiconductor, causing them to break free from their atoms, creating electron-hole pairs. Electrons are negatively charged, while holes are positively charged.

  3. Separation of Charges: The solar cell is designed with an electric field (usually created by a p-n junction) that separates these free electrons and holes. The electrons are pushed towards the n-type side, and the holes towards the p-type side.

  4. Electric Current: The movement of electrons to one side and holes to the other creates a flow of electric current when an external circuit is connected. This current can be harnessed to power electrical devices or stored in batteries for future use.

Paperwork & Agreement

Visit the Solar Pro Showroom where an expert will take your current electric usage history and a Google Maps picture of your roof to design a solution custom fit for your home or business.  A quote will be prepared.  When you are ready to schedule installation you simply sign the quote.

Site Eligibility

Almost every site is eligible for a solar energy system.  Most often the roof is the best spot but if heavily shaded, a sunny part of your property may be better suited.  Solar Pro has mapping software to help determine the best location for your home or business.

Installation & Permissions

Local and County permits are required before installation commences.  Solar Pro will take care of all of that!

Utility Connection

Most installations will require Utility Connection.  Solar Pro works directly with local Utilities (Black Hills Energy, West River Electric, and Black Hills Electric Coop) to make the connection.  A new meter will be installed.  The power company will pay you approximately 2.5 cents per kWh you produce in excess of what you use.

Solar On!

A Solar Pro system is the most modern and easy to use system available.  You will essentially have to do nothing!  If your home has Wi-Fi, there is an app that Solar Pro will set up for you where you can monitor and watch how much power your panels are delivering at any moment.
